About Oak & Laurel
Since 2009, Oak & Laurel Cemetery Preservation, LLC has been a regional flagship for historic preservation, restoration masonry, and consultation in cemetery landscapes. Based in New Orleans, Louisiana, Oak & Laurel has established clientele throughout the American Southeast. Proprietor Emily, A. Ford, MSHP, has worked in historic preservation for 15 years on all levels - from hand-on craftwork to administrative management.
We are dedicated to the stewardship of the historic tombs, copings, monuments, and landscapes of historic cemeteries, including statuary and stone restoration. Experience has taught us that cemetery preservation is not only about brick-and-mortar repairs; it is also about community participation, regular care, and preventive maintenance. We approach all projects, be they restorations, workshops, interment research, or any other project, with a commitment to craft and sustainability.
Through restoration, documentation, and education, we seek to create meaningful solutions for long-term preservation and relevance of historic cemeteries. We approach each project with the next century of the cemetery in mind, adhering to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for Historic Preservation.
